Petrified Forest National Park, located in northeastern Arizona, is a land of vibrant, fossilized trees and striking desert landscapes. The park is famous for its vast deposits of petrified wood, some of which date back over 200 million years to the Late Triassic period. Among its many historical landmarks, the park holds remnants of Route 66, the legendary highway that once served as a major thoroughfare across the United States. During the 1930s, the Great Depression led to the establishment of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), which helped develop park infrastructure, including roads and visitor facilities used today. The park also preserves ancient Native American sites, including petroglyphs left by Ancestral Puebloans. Today, visitors can explore the fossilized forest, walk along historic trails, and witness the blending of natural history with human heritage.
